Importing Access Database

Gabby84
Can anyone assist me with importing an Access database in to ILWIS? The import window only acknowledges xls files, not mdb files.

I tried to convert a table in the mdb database to a dbf but it was too big.

I would appreciate any assistance on this matter.

Re: Importing Access Database

Hey,

If you are using ILWIS 3.8.4 there´s an option for import mdb.

Import --- ActiveX Data Objects(ADO) --- Table --- Access (I never tried this option).

Thank you for replying.

I attached a graphic that shows my problem. I tried to use the option you mentioned, but ILWIS is only acknowledging Access "(.xls)" files, which are Excel files.

With ADO through which the access to 'access' runs in Ilwis you have the problem that you are dependent if someone else installed ADO drivers for it on your system. We ourselves don’t do it ( I am even not sure if we are allowed, licencse wise, to do it). Furthermore since windows 7 the ADO system has seen some changes and I am not 100% sure if the current version of Ilwis (always) reacts correctly to those changes. On home  system I can import access, but on my system at work, I can't. So there you go.

Re: Importing Access Database

Thank you so much for replying.

I tried updating the ADO and reverting to an older version of ILWIS, to no avail.

Can you give me more details about your home computer?  For instance which version of ADO does it have and what version of IWLIS it is running?

Thank you.
